Top 9: Assault Suits Valken/Cybernator

I haven't ever even seen an episode of Gundam.

But that's the kind of show where you almost don't have to have seen it to know what it's about; its reputation and effect on the world kinda state its case for itself as to why it's practically its own genre at this point.

Heck, even before I really had an idea on what anime was, I had an inkling about Gundam from the whole ten minutes I had spent on the internet before discovering this game. Granted, I played the watered-down Northam version called Cybernator, but it counts as a stepping stone.

Giant robots, political storylines, and orbital colony drops. It's all here! And it's all wrapped up in a very good game. No one element of the game strikes me as bad, and taken altogether, is certainly worth your time.

However!! It is also worth a bit of time at the start to make sure you find the translation patch for Assault Suits Valken. The Northam version of Cybernator cuts out a fair amount of content and has a very awkward and hard-to-follow storyline. Assault Suits Valken, with the translation patch, feels much better as a cohesive whole of a game.

To me, at least.
