Top 2: Final Fantasy VI

The internet has said enough about this game.

I don't have particular attachment to when or how I played this; it was one of the first ones I played when I had discovered emulator's, and it stuck with me.

I mean, I loved it when I was younger, of course, Kefka was hilairious, the characters were great, and the storyline was excellent. It was everything an RPG was supposed to be to a kid.

And then I kept playing it as an adult.

And it just improved.

The characters have depths to them that when I was younger, I just couldn't grasp it. I saw the obvious moments with them, and I liked them plenty then, but playing again over the years... The game kinda grew up with me, y'know? I started seeing the more multi-faceted aspects of them and the events around them and the things that they were doing.

I won't go into examples, as that would get extremely spoilery extremely quickly, and, well, the internet is a better place to go to than me for this sort of thing.

So if you like RPG's at all, check this one out.

I've thought many times about playing Final Fantasy III, er, VI. It's just so hard for me to get into turn-based RPGs. How I ever got into Pokemon I'll never know.

Which is kinda funny, since FFVI is one of the fastest-paced in the series in terms of battles go. (it'a arguably not even turn based)

Yeah, FF4-9 aren't turn based. Fastest battles (as in, when you fight what you should be fighting) definitely has to go to XII or XIII. Got nothing on the Tales Of games though, I love how fast combat is in them. So um, I guess there's not much to comment on since you didn't say much. But here: it may not have the absolute polish that Chrono Trigger has but FF6 is probably the best SNES RPG.

Much as I like Tales of Phantasia, it's only in theory. The characters and story just never engaged me, much as I love the combat.

Oh, I don't care for Phantasia. Symphonia, Eternia and Vesperia are where it's at. I've got Graces F and Dawn of the New World but I've yet to play em.

Ooooohkay, that's a comfort. I thought I was weird for not liking Tales of Phantasia when the Tales games are so well-liked.
