Well that's enough with the SNES.
Now to my favourite retro console! The good ol' Genesis.
Which is kind of a shame; as one of my favourites for it is technically a Sega CD game. What game is that? Silly you! Of course it's fucking Silpheed!
This one doesn't make it on the list proper ONLY because it's not technically a Genesis game. If it did count, it'd be plopped right in the 1.5 ranking. (because there's no way I could shunt the number 2 game out of its spot.)
The one thing about this game that bothers me the most is that I sing its praises all the damn time, but it's kinda hard to get others to play it. Sure, Genesis emulators are easy enough to get going, since they've had a decade or more to refine their craft, and the roms are nice and tiny. Sega CD, on the other hand.... Well, first of all, the images of the CD's are dramatically larger than a simple cartridge ROM. Second, Silpheed is persnickety of which emulator you use. Gens+ worked fine for everything EXCEPT Silpheed, at which is would randomly crash at the worst of times. You basically have to specifically use Kega Fusion, load up the right BIOS imformation, etcetcetc... If there was a modern port of this game, I would be telling people to buy it. Heck, I'd be buying it FOR them, just so they can play it. It's that damn good.
But anyways. Tune in tomorrow.
